Rabari mother and son standing in their house.
The different tribal groups that now live in Kutch have migrated there from different countries as diverse as present day from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Iran and other areas in the Middle East and central Asia.
Each community and tribal group has it's own motifs and embroidery stitches.
The Rabari's lifestyle is completely different from any other tribe. The Rabari move from one village to another village by throwing house hold materials and small kids on a reverse bedstead kept on a camels back. Nowadays some Rabari live in houses and don't move away anymore.
